This early, self-driven learning became the foundation for his future success, helping him navigate challenges including homelessness after his uncle stopped funding his education and asked him to leave home at 18.

Vivek secured a job as a part-time instructor and lab assistant at a computer institute, where he was surrounded by resources that allowed him to deepen his knowledge. The burgeoning IT revolution in India presented new opportunities, leading him to Bengaluru in 1998. Despite lacking a formal degree, his skills secured him a position, initially at a lower salary, but with a promise to observe his performance. He faced new challenges, including learning ANSI Common Lisp and Calculus, subjects where he had previously struggled. However, with the unwavering support of a mentor who believed in his capabilities, Vivek not only excelled but discovered a genuine love for mathematics, proving to himself and others that he was capable of far more than he had ever imagined.

In 2010, he launched two more ventures: the Vichaar Foundation and codeCraft. His company codeCraft became a specialist in adaptive AI query resolution using ANSI Common Lisp, the very language that had once intimidated him. His expertise culminated in 2013 when a Fortune 100 company, needing Lisp engineers for its search engine, acquired codeCraft in an 'acquihire,' a testament to Vivek's continuous learning and dedication.

With financial success achieved, Vivek made a decision that set him apart: he chose to give almost all of it away. 'I have a home of my own. I have medical insurance. I am well-to-do for a single person. What more do I need?' he reflects with a gentle smile. Everything else, including his salary from Ace Hacker, goes into the Eklavya trust, which he co-founded with two friends. 'Education is not a part-time arrangement. Childhood is not negotiable,' Vivek asserts. In just two years, Eklavya has sponsored 300 children, investing a remarkable Rs 2.5 crore in their futures, all stemming from Vivek's belief that no child should be deprived of learning due to financial barriers.

Vivek’s philanthropic spirit led him to LivingMyPromise (LMP), an inspiring community of Indians committed to giving back. Launched in 2018, LMP is modeled on The Giving Pledge but tailored for individuals who have achieved financial security, pledging 50% of their net worth to charitable causes. The community has grown from six founding members to 175 individuals and couples, united by a moral and personal pledge to make a difference.
