The Better India, in collaboration with DonateKart, has partnered with the Assam-based Association of Social and Human Activists (ASHA) to spearhead an urgent initiative: procuring emergency tents for families who have lost their homes. These shelters are more than just temporary structures; they are beacons of dignity, offering dry spaces for children and the elderly, protecting essential food and medicines, and providing a secure environment for families to stay together as they navigate the aftermath of the floods.
Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, Army, Border Security Force, and local police, are tirelessly working across affected districts. They are evacuating stranded individuals and distributing essential supplies, with helicopters ensuring food packets reach even the most remote villages. Rajib Kalita, Managing Director of ASHA, highlights the critical need for shelter, stating that families require a protected space to eat, sleep, and keep their belongings dry.
This focused effort aims to raise Rs 2 lakh to secure these vital emergency tents. Each contribution directly empowers ASHA and its partners to distribute these shelters, reaching families who are determined to rebuild their lives.
